Standard Custom Ferro Rod

Description

Our standard sized ferro rod / fire steel, in practice we have found this one to suit both adult and younger students alike (be aware that younger users will need to develop good technique and patience to be successful, great training for life!).

This design uses a ferrocerium blank measuring 8mm in diameter, with about 60mm of usable length.

Generally ferro rods vary in alloy composition, they are made from a few different reactive metals. The active pyrophoric element Cerium which bursts into flame on contact with air (oxygen) to produce a very hot spark, reliable even when wet!
